Leading international luxury retail group Harvey Nichols sought Base Creative's assistance to design and manage a sensational grand opening event for its Hong Kong flagship store in Pacific Place. Base Creative designed and managed every aspect of this dramatic fashion exhibition and party – attended by more than 300 VIP guests – from striking invitations to the dazzling venue decorations. We created a brand video and 3D projection wall, as well as several surreal fashion exhibitions throughout the mall for guests to interact with.
Save the Date was a striking pre-invitation intended to alert Harvey Nichols’ target audience of affluent fashion-conscious customers and VIPs to the coming grand opening of HN’s flagship store. Bearing the message “Fashion typhoon hits Hong Kong”, its dramatic cover design depicted a typhoon swirling above the Hong Kong skyline. The key message to “save the date” was spelled out in the client’s corporate typeface in an easy-to-read booklet featuring an eye-catching black and silver colour palette to provide contrast, enhanced with matt silver lamination.
The main invitation to the opening used a slightly different but still contrasting colour palette of blue and silver. Gloss lamination with a silver edge conveyed a luxurious impression, while the illustration featured stage lighting for a dramatic effect.
Base Creative managed every aspect of the grand opening, to which more than 300 VIP guests were invited. Decorative themes included a pair of wings crafted from clothes hangers to represent the store’s emphasis on fashionable clothes. In addition to an elegant fashion show, which one would expect for a fashion store opening, entertainment included a novel 360-degree panoramic grand opening video projection on a tent to create an impressive talking point. Cocktails were served to welcome the guests, who experienced a highly favourable impression of the new store.
